About Me

Be it ever so humble .....  welcome to my blog

Who am I?  Well I'm a female of the species, on the wrong side of her forties, lately wondering who on earth the old bag staring out from the mirror could possibly be.  As I hurtle at breakneck speed towards my middle-aged years (as disgracefully as possible of course), I realise many things: I groan as I get in and out of soft chairs; policemen ARE getting younger, and shorter for that matter; National Service is the only answer for the youth of today and I suffer no fools when it comes to basically anything (with honourable mention going to all forms of cold calling or dealings with call centres),  all of which bring home to me that I am officially turning into my darling mum and, yes, she was right - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Other than that I'm a bit of a pussycat really.

I live in Hertfordshire, UK, dangerously close to the Essex borders, and conveniently close enough to Stansted Airport to be able to make escapes if necessary, but mainly it's considered a convenient spot for all my friends to leave their cars while they  jet off on their own jollies.

I've worked for a major confectionery company for the best part of 20 years, a company both frustrating and exciting.  As a result I subscribe, to the widely held belief "that which does not kill us, makes us stronger".  A company that can announce a "less is more" approach and commits to a reduction in the number of products it develops while simultaneously requesting the launch of 100 new lines between now and Christmas, is OK by me!

My Grandmother once told me to marry a piano player, because he will have nice hands.  Therefore it makes perfect sense to me that I married my hubby, an ex-miner from Yorkshire.  He's my gentle giant, my comforter and, most importantly, my chef! When I think about it, he actually doesn't swear, making me think I should take a leaf out of his book one in a while. Oh and he's handy with the iron too (in a good way that is!)

My free time is spent with my hubby, family and friends, at the theatre or cinema.
